This week has definitely been about Benny. Even though he doesn`t know it. I have contacted airlines, airports, quarantine offices, and finally have all the information I will ever need if I were to bring him here. I even did a massive email request to all Hokkaido Jets that have experience bringing over a pet from North America, and the emails I got were split. The first ones I received were all very positive, there was some stress involved but in the end pet and owner were very happy, oh, and these stories were about cats. The last ones about dogs were not so positive, in fact they were very negative. One brought his dog over here successfully but the dog never fully recovered from all the stress of the journey and a while after that committed suicide. I can`t imagine how guilty and upset I would feel if I brought Benny over here and he arrived scarred forever, and even worse, if he took his own life because of it. That little guy means way to much to me to just put him on a plane without really thinking about all these things.
Is it purely selfish wanting to have Benny over here with me?
It has been 2 years away from the little guy and there isn`t a day that passes that I do not wish he was here with me.
Maybe dogs were meant for car travel only, or something.
Anyway, on a completely different note, this town office guy keeps showing up to all my different classes. He just walks in, sits at the back, takes notes, and then leaves. It is all very odd. First of all, no one told me about him coming, and second, when I asked the people at the Board of Education who he was and why he was at my classes they had no idea what I was talking about. Finally, someone guessed that he might be there for the town paper, but it seems a little different. It feels like I am being evaluated not interviewed, I mean the guy has never spoken to me, he only talks to my students and co-teachers after class. It is all very strange.
Although one good thing about this whole experience is that I am no longer nervous to have someone observing my classes, which is definitely a good thing. Strange what this Programme has changed in me.
