So the days continue. Or something like that. I tried making travel arrangements the other day to get to school. But then found out that I would be traveling during Obon. For those of you who don't know, Obon is the festival of the dead. Catchy isn't it? It is a time for the families to go back to the graves and visit their relatives, and then welcome them back into their own houses (in spirit of course no grave digging occurs). Anyway, so many families travel during Aug 1-31. In short, don't travel in Japan during the month of August unless you want to spend ridiculous amounts of money.
However, I did buy a ticket to school. So that is one way taken care of. The choice that I have to make for coming back, is either take local trains which will take 2 days to get me back to this northern island, or a ferry that will take 2 days to get me back to this island. At least on the ferry I will be in one place and don't worry about changing trains over 15 times. They are both the same price though with this special cheap 5 day train pass you can buy. 2 days sitting on the subway, basically. Hmmm, I am not sure I would be able to handle that.
I don't know, what do you guys think? Should I park my carcass on a boat for 2 days for $120, or do the train marathon for $110? Man oh man. Either one I am sure I will be completely exhausted.
Could be an adventure!
