Friday, a half day of work and then freedom. Freedom Fridays. This morning I woke up early, managed to clean my place, and then get to work. All day I was at the Junior High School, including a little overtime. Sadly. Specially on a sunny day like today. But after I finished work I rode my bicycle to the Saitou's farm. It took around 30 minutes because it is 15km. At the farm, I helped set bags around vegetables, and then skin half a log. There are 40 logs left to do, and it takes a long time to do them all by hand. The first layer is pretty easy to chip away at, but getting it all off so it is only white root, is amazingly hard. I arrived around 3pm, and just got home now (7:15pm). That is a pretty long day. I now have a very sore ass from riding 30km, blisters on my hands from skinning a log, and a very sore back. But it was great to see the farm family again, and in exchange for my work they gave me fresh bread, fresh milk, home grown spinach, cookies, and homemade ice cream. It was amazing. I totally didn't expect anything. Really, I was there to help out because they have been so nice to me in the past. Amazing people, truly. And I can safely say that that was the hardest day of work I have had in Japan since I have come here. And if I don't go climbing and riding tomorrow, I am definitely going to go back.
Sweat dripping, bugs, blisters, pain all over, but in the end, my soul felt like a sunset. Light, warm, and glowing.
Ah yes.
So now I am going to go try and fix something to eat before I fall a sleep at my computer.
