Food poisoning. They say I have food poisoning. Now normally, that would mean that I would stay in bed, probably have to go to the bathroom several times, and not be able to keep anything down. But here, food poisoning carries a different meaning. The fact that my Japanese is so so in the first place doesn’t help, but then you add to that medical terms. And you have the making for your very own horror story. Now I have been to the hospital many times here, all equally horrific. Sometimes terrifying. One instance when I went in for period cramps, and found myself having an allergic reaction to the I.V. they had given me, passing out with out the ability to speak, and being so confused, not sure what language to call for help in the first place. Ah yes. Luckily, a nurse found me in time, and they gave me 3 other bags of fluid through my I.V. just to counter the first one. Ah the memories.
Right, so this time, I got another I.V. and 4 packets of medicine that I have no idea what they are for or what they are called. Yes, cultural submersion.
So they asked if I had eaten sushi. I had, in fact. That is why my stomach was so sore. That is why my office sent me to the hospital.
And why I am at home now, resting. My supervisor came and saw me with an I.V. in my arm and gave me the week off. It was like I had won the lottery. I kept the big smile in till after she left. A week off, for a sore tummy, sweet, bring on the raw fish!!!
