I think it is safe to say that summers here. It's been averaging in the 20s, what more do you want really? I already got my second sun burn of the year (not that this is a good thing), but compared to the first one anything is better. This one is already turning into a tan after a night of heat, no aloe needed. Sweet. Skin cancer vs. pastiness, I swear I put on sunscreen ma.
Yesterday was good times. Hanging outside taking pictures in a t-shirt and shorts. Playing with the students and cheering them on in all their athletic trials. Super fun. The kids were loving it, and even the real quiet kids who suck in school were Gods and Goddess for a day when they showed off their wings.
Everyone pitched in setting up, cleaning up, and making sure everything went off without a hitch. It is awesome to see students being timers, judges, MCs, and then trading jobs when it was their turn to run in the event. I love it. Seriously, give students responsibility, they really will rise to the challenge.
Specially since the school has only 40 students at most, and only a handful of teachers it is more like a big family.

most of the student body at the opening ceremony for the sports festival.
Oh, and I even ran too in a big relay. Sweet! The legs still worked.
Afterwards I was ready to crash, but the teachers all went out to celebrate and so I went too. Crusing to the party place with my rusty bike complete with basket and squeaky brakes. Hanging out with them in the upstairs of a local place, there really isn't any other place I would rather be. Sitting cross legged on the tatami, chopsticks in hand, laughing and loving it all.
Alright rock stars, love you all. The lights are on, and it's only just begun!
