First day of real class. My brain is begging for mercy. Although it was GREAT to be back in school again and learning. My mind feels starved! However, my placement landed me right smack dab in a class that is almost done the text book. There are 25 chapters in the text book and I have to study all the way to chapter 19! Mouth dropping. Which wouldn't be so bad, but that means I have to go through all 19 chapters and learn whatever I don't know, any vocabulary, grammar, and on top of it study the stuff we did today, the stuff we are going to do, and prepare for a test on Monday, oh, and I have extra homework to help me work on the areas that the class has already studied but that I screwed up on in my test. All this, and I was suppose to go to Nara at 5pm today. I felt awful, I had to call Greg and cancel because of the extra stuff from my teacher and what not. I hope to get the stuff done and go tomorrow. Hope. Okay, as for the new pictures, I made friends with another JET named Zaza, Marta from Portugal (the first two aren't in my class), Gia a Chinese girl from France, Chris from England, and another guy not in my class name Odin. So today, Odin, Marta, Zaza and I went for lunch, then after (because school was done at that point), Joly and I went back to the school to study. We studied for a few hours, then when are brains were full we went on a bike ride and ended up at Okazaki castle, which was great but the bugs were bad. So we biked back to a video arcade, played a fighting game or two, went grocery shopping (the crazy thing was we did our shopping separately but ended up buying the exact same things!!!). And then we came back to my dorm (cause mine was closer so he left his bag in my room before we went on our bike tour), and then he went back to his residence. But the best part about today (minus the brain candy and my shower, oh showers, clean nice showers, how I love you) was that we spent most of the day speaking Japanese. His Japanese is WAY better than mine, so for the most part I was struggling and he was being patient, but eh. YAY learning. So now I am going to hit the books and then off to bed.
But class was great. It is truly refreshing to get back into a learning environment where I really need to work my brain. I love it. And my classmates seem really cool too. Some of them I wonder how they can be in the same class because they can barely speak, but some of them are amazing, and yet we are all meshed together. I guess it all works out.
Oh right, and I met this interesting chick on my floor who was born in France, lived in India, lived in Japan, but her mom is American and her dad is Canadian, and she has a real crazy story. Right, but I am just blabbing and I need to be studying. So I send my love to you all.
