Amazing day, truly amazing. Alright, so the first part was hard, and hot, and I got dizzy from the heat a few times, but now I am sitting in my room in my underwear (not like you needed to know that part), with the air conditioner on full blast and (drum roll please) WRITING ON MY OWN COMPUTER!!! Which is just great. I mean, I am still connected to the shoddy lan connection that cuts out every now and then. But, I can bombard you all with pictures now, and sit in the air conditioning in my underwear. All good things.
So orientation was great, I have already made a few friends, strangely enough most of them speak French as a first language. Hmmmm. They were all wondering how good my French was being from Canada (blushing), right, well we won't go there. But most of all they seem like really great people, there are a few hotties (which is also nice), but yay friends. And me, sweating buckets in my new yellowish orange Hawaiian tank top, SWEET. For some reason I have decided not to buy blue clothing, which for those who know me, know this is news. Even though petty news to say the least. Oh, and Christina, I am now the proud owner of a baby pink Florida t-shirt that has a map of Florida. Apparently the coolest thing now is t-shirts from Key West and what not. A bit of a shock for me, who knew? Right, so there is my homage to you woman.
Oh, in other great great news I am getting reviews back from my book and people love it (definitely a load off my mind) so that's good. All good things. And tomorrow is my first day of class as well I am off to Nara for the weekend to go visit Greg and see the sites. Apparently there is a HUGE Buddha there, and other cool Buddhist related items. Right up my alley these days. Granted I will have to get some studying in there somewhere, but I will bring my books (famous last words).
Oh, and last night as I was peddling around, enjoying a Baskin and Robbins Jamoca Almond Fudge ice cream (which is oddly not as yummy as I remembered) I discovered, as much as I sweat and get drained from the heat, I really like it. Strange I know, and maybe my view point will change, like if I actually had to wear more than a tank top and shorts, but for now we will keep things on the up and up.
So yay, internet in my shoe box. Sweet. All for the price of $3 for a lan cable. Man, I am set. If only my brain would be more open to this language learning thing. As I was writing the test today my brain was crying mercy. But I swear on this electronic cyber space system, to do my damnedest to learn this language.
Oh, cool thing I forgot, there is a chick here from Portugal, yay! So I need to chat with her a bit. Figure out where she is from, if I could crash there, you know.
But I am off to enjoy my last day of freedom before the studying takes place. Cruise my rusty bike all over town. Love to you all. April, it was GREAT hearing from you, it has been forever and we totally need to catch up. Peter, thank you so much for all the messages, it totally has given me strength in this unfamiliar territory. And to all the rest of you who happen to read this and have sent me emails and what not, thank you. I love you people! Each and everyone of you has taught me so much and will always have a place in my heart.
Okay, hugs and kisses. Off I go, whoop de doo!
