It's Christmas time in the city
So Christmas came and went, much fun was had, much toys enjoyed. The best part is I finally got to reveal what I had been working on (mentally and physically...but mostly mentally), for MONTHS. Peter's Plinko. See the story goes that one day Deven, Peter, and I were talking about our favourite pricing game, we each stated our favourites with Peter saying that his fav. was Plinko. Oh the dreaded Plinko. In the back of my mind I thought that that pricing game was in fact the one I would want to play least. Peter was trying to convince me that there is some sort of strategy to this awful game, but to me you drop the chip in and it, it bounces randomly off many pegs, and then lands somewhere without any control from you. Anyway, so right then and there I decided to see how much strategy Peter could muster in a game of Plinko. So then came the next few months of trying to figure out how to build him a plinko board, and pricing game, etc. Of course when Deven bought the huge flat screen tv, I jumped on the chance to pilfer the huge box that came with it. So the box went over to my parents to sit in their closet for months. Then the day came, I hauled out the paints, golf tees, hot glue gun, and of course, duck tape, and went to work. The board came along easy enough, it was collecting the prizes, and of course getting the right music that was the hard part. Thankfully my good friend Steve from Hokkaido hooked me up. He is totally a master when it comes to finding obscure things on the internet. What took me a week of searching took him less than a day. I definitely was/am totally grateful to my Steve. So xmas came, and I had all the stuff hiding in Deven's room. I made Peter stay in our room until I could dress in my most 70s-esque apparel and set everything up. When I finished, I walked Peter out backwards, handed him a card, and just as he opened it, I press play on the price is right music. The card, of course, said "Peter Vetsch, come on down! You are the next contestant in the Price is Right", yeppers, good times. Anyway, after that it was off to my parents for brunch, stockings, presents, then nap, then dinner, then movie. We all put on our Santa hats to go see Memoirs of a Geisha. Which actually was really good. And now, I'm wrapped in my oh so cuddly pottery barn throw with my new slippers about to sample some tea, and nurse a cold (present from my brother for xmas, thanks Geoff).
Hugs and love to you all.
