Back to the beginning

I just got back from a trip up to High Level. The northern town where I was born and raised, but a place that I haven't been back to in quite sometime. Not because I haven't wanted to, mostly because I have been out of the country. But I am back now, and so it was off to visit. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I definitely did not expect crying at the sound of hearing the geese heading south, or the feeling of the cold crisp mornings, or feeling my heart dance at the sight of the clear night sky littered with stars. There are some things that no matter where you go, no matter what you see, it is always home. And those things definitely are, if only the northern lights were out dancing as well.
Regardless it was fabulous to see faces that I haven't seen in years, and to catch up on stories and lives that have had a large gap, or rather put on hold, since I last lived there. Amazing, truly. I am happy to be reuinted with my own bed and with Peter, which both are in Calgary, but I do miss High Level and the people who live there.
