Cops, snowboads, and shoes
Saturday night in Kimobetsu, everyone is sleeping. There are no cars on the roads, the stars are bright, the moon lights up the fields of snow. Everyone inside, keeping warm and resting for the next day. We should have been indoors, we should have been sleeping, but we weren't.
But wait.
Let me back up.
FridayI went to Sapporo to talk to the travel agent, get my computer screen fixed, and of course to see the bright city life. A urban injection.
I get to the computer place, and the man who fixed my computer last weekend wasn't in. But they handed me a note and asked me if I understood. Here is what the note said:
"Was it possible the other day though the engineer wants will send out the exchange of the liquid crystal hinges of the personal computer with the request in the much more by the courier service for the vacation of today as soon as temporarily completing will keep I am sorry? It completes by the end of tomorrow, and it becomes a receipt (Sunday and holiday are excluded) after sending out or tomorrow by the courier service. Please pay the charge previously I am sorry at the time of delivering to home. The amount of money becomes 6900yen (the exchange fee 6300yen (including tax) and the carriage 600yen) in total."
I have no idea what sort of translation machine they put this through. But I was lost. Eventually I figured out what it all meant, and in the end the engineer came back and fixed my computer. I think his boss called him in when I was totally confused by the note.
Anyway, the rest of the day was travel stuff, grocery shopping, and I found shoes. I have had the same sneakers for almost 3 years now, and I have been waiting for that one pair that I fall in love with. And I found them. And they had one pair left in only my size. Ahhh fate. Anyway, so I bought them and I loving my new kicks.
Right, so the next day, Laura, Ben, Tim, and Jonn show up at my place and we are off to the mountain. Laura was riding with me, and I was fiddling with getting my water bottle down beside my leg and driving, and not even 4 blocks later, out jumps a cop. He flags me down, and I have been caught. A weekend sting operation for all those bad drivers out there not wearing their seat belts. Now, what is funny about this, is that I ALWAYS wear my seat belt, and that I had a dream a few nights ago that I was going to be pulled over by the cops. But I thought that was going to be for speeding or something, cause I follow the other driving laws. Anyway, I am told to get out of the car, I am led to a cop car, my information is filled in, filled out. Then, I am FINGER PRINTED!!!!! After that, he hands me a paper, tells me that one point (out of ten) has been taken off my liscence, but that there is no fine, and to please wear my seat belt.
15 minutes later, Laura and I show up at the hill and the boys were already off riding. So we found a few hits, and I rode wood for the first time. That was fun. I was scared that the tree I was riding would have a branch that would send me flying. But I stuck it. And I did my first mushroom 180. It was a great day. After we met up with the boys towards the end it was off for home. But before we left Ben got out the homemade pull leash, and we attached it to my car, and I towed him around the parking lot. Nothing like a little rope tow.
So then later on that night, the boys built a run in kicker. And you had to basically get a tow in (being pulled by Jonn's van) at 65km an hour, hit the jump, and you would then be launched into the field. It was pretty insane, but good wholesome fun at 1am. And no one go hurt, so even better.
Anyway, there is more to my story, and today we did made a kicker by the highway, and met some pro snowboarders, and got kicked off that spot by cops (who came by 3 times telling us we shouldn't be there), but Peter is online, so I am going to go chat. Ahhhh the joys of a web cam and mic. Enjoy the pics.
Love.
