Sunday snow day
Saturday Tim, Ben, Laura, and JJ came up to play. Jonn came over and we all went out for some jinguskan (marinated lambs meat). We drank, ate, and were merry. Then the next day, we woke up at 8am to a foot of freshly fallen snow. Excited, we all packed up and we were off to the hill. If only the van would start. A push start later, the van started and we were all off to Rusutsu. Of course everyone has been riding for over a month, but for me, it was my 4th time this season, and of course the times before were always with beginners and so I stayed on course. These people, they never ride on course. So from 10am to 4pm, it was powder-topia! A couple of times I was in thigh deep powder and the spray was almost choking me as I rode through it. Not to mention blinding me, and when the spray cleared there was a tree right there. A few very close calls. Regardless, my body got WORKED. And it was amazing to be riding with the crew again. Big hits, big falls, and good times. By the time we got back to Kimobetsu it was 5pm, and the snow had buried my house and car. Tim and I shoveled out my car, and I waded through hip deep snow to grab more shovels and to shovel out my front door so that people could get into my house. Ah yes, I live in snow country. However, after an hour of shoveling, my car was free from its snowy chains, and the path to my house was clear. Of course I still have a lot more shoveling to do, but that is for tonight. I finally got to bed around 9:30pm, after talking on the phone with Peter and Jessie, and fell into a DEEP SLEEP. Ah, the peacefulness of physical exhaustion. It was wonderful, until my alarm went off this morning. Waking up to a dark house (because all the windows are snowed in), and realizing the cause of it, and of course what has to follow (me having to shovel out my windows), is dreadful. But I managed to make it to work, and am gearing up for another week. My body assures me that a steam roller did in fact visit me in my sleep, and the office squat toilet is already making itself out to be a big challenge. 2 more weeks of this, and I should be back to snowboard shape.
Cat naps and kisses to Mr. JurgenK.
