The weekend has come and gone. It started on Thursday for me with a drive to Sapporo. Nicole and I watched Harry Potter 3, which I am still debating my feelings towards. I love it because it is Harry Potter, but there was just so much missing that I feel sort of let down almost. Anyway. After the movie we went and crashed at Deb's place (at midnight), and woke up at 9am. Nicole and I shopped for ECC prizes ALL DAY. That was exhausting, and after that we drove for 4 hours to Obira. A town very far north (only 120km from the northern most tip of Hokkaido). We set up my tent and partied with the people that were already there. And despite our best efforts, most of us only got 3 or 4 hours of sleep. So the next day (Saturday) I was EXHAUSTED!!! Regardless, I dragged myself out of bed at 7am and with Nicole and Deb, we stumbled to the HAJET PC meeting at 8:30am. The meeting lasted till 10:30am when the general meeting started. By then I was a nervous wreck cause I knew my speech was coming up. Sure enough the meeting flew by, I had to give a short speech about my book that was released which was nicely met by a bunch of shocked expressions and applause. Nice. So that was done. Then came the elections I was the only one in the running. But the vote was still held, and I got voted in. YAY. So I am in the new ECC coordinator.
Right, so after that there was an ECC camp meeting (till 1:15pm), then I grabbed some lunch and did a 3 HOUR DANCE-A-THON. Man my foot is still sore. So so tired. By then I was ready to fall down, but Nicole and I went to an onsen so that we could shower and get clean (which was nice after camping and dancing). Then off to the party and barbeque. It was GREAT. Veggie burgers, hot dogs, chips from home, you name it, it was there. Oh and at the start of the party Melissa gave me her snowshoes and ski poles for free. So awesome. So now I can do back country snowboarding. Watch out mountains, here I come!!! So I hung out with people, had two semi-dramas with these two guys, one I had just met and thought we had some sort of special connections, and another one I had met before but never hung out with. Ahhh but anyway.
So the party was great, fire dancing, a bon fire, and most importantly I got to party with most of the people that are going back home and who I will miss dearly. Sad for me to be sure.
The next day (I know I am rushing this but today I am super busy so this is the coles notes of my weekend), we said our byes. Tears were shed. I caught the bus home (thanks to my supervisor). And no Monday is here.
Much love to you all, and this weekend was AMAZING.
Sometimes, life is just wonderful!
