Tonight I was a speed racer! Weaving in and out between the buckets of rain being hurled from the skies.
Lightening crashing!
The road before me, lit up, another puddle, legs up. A giant spray of warm water. Ocean parting.
Barefoot, soaking, whipping water from my eyes and trying to see past the sheets of rain, with only my dim bike light for guidance. CRASH, the world is lit up again. A quick turn. Downhill flying, home in sight. Barefoot, my toes curled around the peddles.
Soaking wet and smiling, I drag myself inside. Barefoot, with my sandals in my bag, I sop to my room, peel down, and laugh.
I am 5 years old again and my mother is telling me to strip off my soaking clothes in the entry way and use the towel to dry off before going into the house. I am 5 years old again with rain water dripping from my forehead.
For a moment I remember what I truly am.
I am a swimmer of puddles!
Laughing!
